Bupa Cromwell wanted to develop a secure mobile app enabling clinicians to access key hospital information quickly and safely on their mobile devices.
BUPA Cromwell is a private hospital based in west London providing healthcare services for both adults and children. Its services range from outpatient treatments to complex procedures requiring specialist care.
Within a busy hospital environment, clinicians need fast and reliable access to information such as clinic schedules, theatre lists and operational updates. To support this, the hospital sought to introduce a mobile solution that could securely deliver essential data to clinicians wherever they were working within the hospital.
Operating within the healthcare sector, BUPA Cromwell manages large volumes of sensitive operational information every day. Ensuring that the right information is accessible to the right clinicians at the right time is essential to maintaining efficient clinical workflows.

Balancing simplicity for end users with robust security controls was a key requirement throughout the project.
OWA worked closely with the hospital team to design a mobile application that balanced usability with strong security controls. Early discussions focused on understanding the operational information clinicians needed to access and how that information could be delivered safely to authorised users.
To maximise efficiency, we recommended developing the app using the Cordova framework. This approach enabled us to build a single codebase capable of running on both iOS and Android devices, reducing development time and simplifying future maintenance.
Alongside the mobile application, we developed a secure administration system that allows authorised staff to manage user accounts and control access permissions.
